This week, the NHS Library hosted author Tara Sullivan! She discussed her life experiences and writing process in shaping her books. Perhaps most importantly, Tara Sullivan stressed the importance of books in connecting the world and empowering readers to enact change in their communities and beyond. We are incredibly grateful to the Needham Education Foundation for funding Tara Sullivan's visit and eagerly look forward to more programs in the future.

The 10th graders created some incredible "Taking a Stand" projects, this year's National History Day theme. Students worked individually or in groups to select a topic and conduct extensive research to connect the topic to the theme. Students then chose a medium to express their learning: exhibit, documentary, website, or performance. Despite delays from snow, the school judging and exhibition occurred before February break. Winners will be moving onto the regional competition on March 4th!

With Valentine's right around the corner, it's important to reflect on what love really looks like. This month's featured student club is "Take Back the Night". Their goal is to raise awareness of domestic violence and sexual assault by shattering the silence to stop the violence. Keep an eye out for their annual fundraiser event.
